Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick "The Queen"

This is a rich, deeply pigmented bright pinky red. Is it magenta? Not really to my mind, it has enough warmth I suppose to save it from slipping into a berry which is what I think of as magenta.

I was delighted to purchase this, as all of the Matte Revolution lipsticks from Charlotte Tilbury, it applies very creamily, straight from the bullet, no drying throughout the day.

As I wore it more, I was reminded of another shade of lipstick that I wear. Tom Ford Cherry Lush and I have swatched the two side by side below.

And they both have that bright pinky redness.

Here it is on my lips below after a couple of hours of wear and a cup of tea or five. A sadly out of focus enlarged photo but at least the colour can be seen.

Currently £23 from Charlotte Tilbury - I think it is only available from the website, I took a punt on the shade and it paid off. There are pictures of it on various skin tones which is a help.

Lipstick Queen Eden

I love a good lipstick, and I love a good Lipstick Queen lipstick, and this new offering from Lipstick Queen is right up my street.

Eden is inspired by the garden of Eden. The Lipstick Queen website states;

The color is a vibrant and juicy, semi-sheer red that makes you look like you’ve taken a bite from the most beautiful apple in the world. This easy-to-wear shade flatters every complexion from fair to dark, bringing out a rosy blush in the cheek and a twinkle in the eye."

To my mind it is a sheer bright watermelon, it is very sheer on my lips although I have swished it very lightly for the photo, it does layer to the brighter hue as swatched above.

Lipstick Queen lipsticks are my favourite, hands down. No scent and no taste, I find that there is a great mix of wearable neutrals (Saint Pink for example), quirky but not gimmicky (Hello Sailor, Frog Prince) and plenty of reds (Saint Red, Sinner Red, Saint Eden)

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine #54 Boy

There is something about the clickety click of a Chanel lipstick, but I own only one and this is it.

It is a somewhat purpley nude I think, it has a cool rosey hue, and there are gleaming shimmers to my eye.

The range is a sort of hybrid between a lipstick and a lipgloss but in a stick form, to me it is a kind of lip gleam, there is shine and moisture and some brightness but no stickiness.

I don't reach for this as often as I envisaged when I purchased, probably because of its tendancy to pull a little purple on me, but on a good day and with a following wind it is an assailable flattering raspberry, and really what my lips used to be some thirty years ago.
